Raised in the Sacramento area, David P. Mitchell is a retired Air Force and airline pilot who discovered the healing power of Qi Gong (pronounced chee -it's life force energy, the tingling you sometimes feel in your hands and feet, and Gong, expertise at working with life force energy) during his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2011 and 2012. Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese healing art combining stretching with deep breathing in a flowing, moving meditation to elicit one's Qi and improve health and heal illness.
For Denise Costa, her love for fitness developed very early in life and has been a very important part of her weekly (often daily) ritual. She fell in love with the sport of kickboxing several years ago and became certified as an instructor and began teaching it a few years ago, along with Spin, Bootcamps, and Cross Training. She likes to incorporate the whole mind and body in her kickboxing classes, with additional focus on the core, strength training, Pilates, and weights. Boxing combinations are taught and executed on bags, mitts, and often times partner drills. She likes to think of it as a Cardio Kickboxing Fusion and Strength class and it allows all fitness levels to enjoy.
A friend convinced me to try yoga for the first time in 2009. Life changing event! From that beginning I knew I wanted to share yoga with others through teaching. Teacher trainings in 2010, 2011, and 2013 have deepen my journey as a student and teacher. Expect to find grounding and challenge when taking my class! On our mats we practice with breath and body to find a deeper connection to ourselves and others.
